It's no secret that modern life is stressful. Western culture values and pushes a relentless do-do-do mentality and people often wear their exhaustion as a badge of honor.
Especially as empaths and sensitive souls, the bombardment of stimulus on a daily basis is overwhelming. Something is always demanding our attention: our children; work projects; myriad electronic devices beeping, chirping and dinging; family obligations; chores; errands; bills; and more.
Not to mention the effects of environmental toxins, political tensions, climate change, world chaos, and the emotional and energetic debris we are exposed to just through life's daily activities.
Nor can we discount the effect of three years of pandemic trauma (whether we had the virus or not) that is still running through our bodies. We are all in recovery from the isolation, loss, touch deprivation, separation, stress, and horrors of the last several years.
How can our nervous systems not be overloaded trying to keep up with the pace of modern life?
Our bodies are designed to handle small doses of stress. But, we are not equipped to handle long-term, chronic stress without ill consequences. According to stress.org
Americans are some of the most stressed out people in the world. The current stress level experienced by Americans is 20 percentage points higher than the global average.
55% of Americans are stressed during the day (The global average of the number of stressed people out of 143 countries is 35%.)
Chronic stress is commonplace at work with 94% of workers reporting feeling stress at work.
The nervous system keeps our bodies in sync by communicating with all other parts of our bodies, like the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, immune system, etc.
When it comes to stress, your body can’t tell the difference between the danger of facing down a bull elephant and the frustration of being stuck in traffic!
When stress is chronic, whatever its cause, your adrenal glands keep pumping out epinephrine and glucocorticoids, which can damage a wide range of physiological systems. It can cause muscles to atrophy, push the body to store energy as fat, and keep blood sugar abnormally high. Overexposure to glucocorticoids also contributes to the development of high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries, increasing the risk of heart attacks.
Because the hormones inhibit immune system function, they also reduce resistance to infection and inflammation. Chronic stress can also have specific negative effects on brain tissue and function, such as memory formation and recall, decision-making and cognition, and speed the deterioration in brain function caused by aging. The effects of stress can even be passed to subsequent generations by epigenetic mechanisms! Chronic stress can change the markers on DNA molecules that indicate which of the genes in a cell are expressed and which are silenced.
Basically, if you're alive, your nervous system experiences stress...and lots of it. And if you don't manage your exposure and response to stressful situations, it can and will affect more people than just you. And almost certainly degrade your quality of life in the process. We need the grace of the Divine Feminine!
And especially if you're a creative type, coach, therapist, healer, change agent, or entrepreneur...we cannot contribute our best work, connect to our creative flow, and hear our spiritual guidance clearly when our bodies are wracked with symptoms of stress, overwhelm and exhaustion.
What's scary is that our society normalizes chronic stress. "Oh that's life." "Suck it up." "Stop complaining." "That's just how it is." "You're too sensitive." "This is what it takes to succeed." "Don't be such a wuss."
But this is not meant to be our natural state of being! When you're young, you might be able to blow past your limits on a regular basis, but as we age, the lifestyle we were once able to sustain becomes unsustainable. Constant stress and overwhelm do not have to be a part of our daily reality.
It is an act of revolution to disengage from the Western lifestyle and return to your own innate rhythms and biorhythms.
It's hard to shine your light when you're exhausted, depleted, and overwhelmed. For us to be at our best for the people we love and serve, and for us to receive the joy, grace, pleasure and amazing beauty life on Earth has to offer, we have to break from societal norms and expectations, develop new healthy mindful habits, and give our bodies time to recalibrate.
That's why I created the 30-Day Nervous System Reset.
What is the 30-Day Nervous System Reset?
This program is designed to make it easy for you to participate and shift your daily practices and environment so you can experience immediate results. It is an opportunity to acknowledge where your masculine and feminine expressions might be out of balance and to invite the Divine Feminine in to hold you, guide you, nourish you, and help you return to the heart of you.
It is our feminine nature that is the nurturer, the one who intimately knows our innate biorhythms and needs. She is the one who discerns when it is time to rest, slow down, play, and engage in self care. If you have a strong relationship with your feminine, she will always have your best interest at heart if you listen to her guidance (which will often contradict what the masculine world would have us do.)
Calling in the Divine Feminine is like calling in reinforcements. If your inner feminine feels like she has lost her voice or her value, the Divine Feminine acts like a loving mentor, to help your personal inner feminine remember who she is.
What's Included In This Program?
This program begins on Sunday February 5 to engage two potent celestial timings: the cross-quarter Imbolc (February 3) and the full moon (February 5). We'll complete our 30 days on Monday March 6.
Starting Sunday February 5 I will send you an email each day for 30 days with 30 unique recommendations to support your nervous system in reducing stress and anxiety, calming adrenal fatigue, and settling back into your own innate rhythms. The Divine Feminine will be our oversoul and guiding principle!
I'll give you ideas that are simple (but powerful) to incorporate into your day and which don't take a lot of time to implement. Plus you'll get some science, research and statistics to fill out your understanding of the value of these recommendations.
The information will be delivered through short articles, videos, and lists of suggestions in your daily emails.
Additionally I've created a daily tracking sheet that I encourage you to print and fill out each day in the morning or at night to track certain aspects of your progress such as your mood, energy level, quality of sleep, and mental state.

What's My Time Commitment?
Chronic stress, exhaustion, or overwhelm cannot be fixed overnight, although you can do things to start feeling better right away. Sustained improvement requires lifestyle changes, dedication, and patience as new habits are developed over time.
Studies vary, but it takes at least 21 days for a new habit to form. And Western society certainly does us no favors in supporting us as we move more into our feminine wisdom. But I know you wouldn't be reading this far if you weren't already aware of all that and ready to make a commitment to yourself.
The amount of time you commit to the program is totally up to you, but as you've heard so many times, you get out of it what you put into it. So what does that mean in practical terms?
- At a minimum, you'll want to read each daily email which should take at most 3-6 minutes. Videos might be a little longer, but nothing over 8 minutes.
- The amount of time you spend implementing the daily recommendation is up to you, but you won't get anything out of it if you don't try it. The feminine works through the experiential realms, so you have to do the thing to experience the thing to benefit from its effect.
I don't expect all 30 practices to hit a home run for you, but trying them all will give you the opportunity to determine which ones are especially effective for you as well as which ones you want to incorporate into your regular self-care practice.
- I designed the daily tracking sheet to be easy to jot down your experience of the day. It shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 minutes at the most.
- Adding all this up, a bare minimum commitment would be 15 minutes a day to read the email, fill out your daily tracking sheet, and implement the practice. Something simple (such as diffusing an essential oil) takes practically no time out of your day. Other recommendations (such as movement practices) could take 30-60 minutes. So it's safe to say your daily commitment will be somewhere between 15 - 75 minutes a day.
- Additionally, there are three live calls which you can choose to participate in live or listen to the recording. The calls will be between 60-90 minutes each.
- What's harder to track in terms of linear time is the process that will be happening at a subtle energetic level in the emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic realms. Committing to this program is really about making a commitment to your own feminine nature and deepening your relationship with the Divine Feminine. Subtle shifts will be happening "behind the scenes" and in the subconscious as you progress through these 30 days. While you're living your "outer" life, your inner world will be spending time contemplating, processing, and integrating the material on multiple levels.
